Getting Started

Settling In, Supporting Your Child From Day One

We know that starting childcare is a big step, for your child and for your whole family. Our settling-in process is gentle, flexible, and built around each individual child.

Home or Virtual Visit

We begin with a home or virtual visit so we can get to know your child before they arrive.

Stay & Play

Parents are warmly encouraged to stay during early sessions for as long as their child needs.

Regular Updates

We keep you informed throughout via the Blossom app and direct conversations with your child’s key person.

At Their Own Pace

Every child settles differently. We never rush this process, we work at your child’s individual pace.

Our Curriculum

How We Help Your Child Learn: Our EYFS Approach

Every session at Trinity Playcentre is shaped by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the government’s framework for learning and development for children from birth to age 5. We follow Birth to 5 Matters guidance, using play-based activities that develop the whole child across seven areas of learning.

Personal, Social & Emotional Development

Confidence, friendships, managing feelings

Communication & Language

Listening, speaking, storytelling and vocabulary

Physical Development

Fine and gross motor skills, coordination, health

Literacy, Phonics, Books & Mark-Making

Early reading, writing, and a love of books

Mathematics, Numbers, Shapes & Patterns

Counting, sorting, spatial reasoning through play

Understanding the World, Nature, People & Cultures

Science, technology, community, and diversity

Expressive Arts & Design, Creativity, Music & Imagination

Art, music, dance, role-play, and creative thinking

Our curriculum is fully tailored to each child’s individual stage of development. Through observation and play, our practitioners ensure every child is gently challenged, deeply supported, and well-prepared for their transition into Reception Year.

Our Learning Environment, Indoor & Outdoor Spaces

Our bright, well-resourced rooms are filled with age-appropriate learning materials designed to spark curiosity and encourage exploration. Children have access to both indoor learning spaces and our outdoor garden, where they can dig, plant, climb, ride bikes, or settle into a quiet reading corner.

All materials are regularly checked for safety. Our outdoor space supports physical development, nature learning, and the kind of free play that indoor environments can’t always offer.

  • Outdoor garden with planting beds and nature area
  • Climbing frames, bikes, and active play equipment
  • Cosy reading corners indoors and outdoors
  • Creative arts and craft stations
  • Age-appropriate, safe learning resources throughout
